How can you understand the Bible without a human to teach you?
Q. In talking to many people over the years, people keep telling me that all you need is the Bible and to ask the holy spirit to help you understand the Bible. Nothing else. Couple of problematic questions with this line of reasoning: If you were to rely on your own understanding, would you not have many different sects teaching tons of different understandings of the Bible? If everybody had the holy spirit guiding them, would they not all have come to the same conclusions regarding what the Bible actually teaches? Everybody who is searching for truth of the Bible are all sincere in their search. Why do they not all believe the same thing if they all asked the holy spirit to guide them? So, can you understand the Bible without a human… [cont.]

A. If you treat others as you want to be treated why does anyone need a bible? It's called the golden rule I learned that in grade school, it's the most important thing I have ever learned. The golden rule never molested deaf kids, or covered up the molestation of deaf kids.

Can anyone give me anything on a web site that can help me understand offense a little better?

A. The whole key to offense is to find the holes. Always take what the defense gives you. If you can't find a hole, then you must create one with a pick or a screen. Keep the ball moving and crash the boards.

Why is it important to understand the role of science in environmental issue?
Q. There have been misconceptions of science/scientific fact or through the use of technology in regards to the approaches they have used towards the environment. Why should those in particular 'green' lobby groups, stakeholders, and the community in general who are often opposing developments" have to understand the significance of science in environmental controversies? On what ground does science have to be understood by those who oppose it. Is it so those who oppose technological development at the expense of the environment need to take science into account and understand this knowledge then to use it to refute those scientist?

A. Science is the base of every environmental issue. If you don't understand the science, then you don't understand the environmental issue. Simple as that. Global warming is the perfect example.

How does spirituality help people understand the universe in which we live?
Q. I don t think it does at all; I think spirituality is really just a coping mechanism that people have invented and that is not based on any evidence or rational thought process. Spirituality is the sand in which people stick their heads like ostriches when the truth gets too hard for them to accept. But religious people (especially Catholics for some reason) keep telling me that science and spirituality are two methods of understanding the universe. How can imaginary nonsense help people understand the universe?
Asked by Desiree - Sun Sep 27 21:11:53 2009 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It won't help you obviously but for those of us who believe it helps a lot. Knowing the creation teaches us about the Creator, and knowing the Creator tells us a lot about His creation. Maybe it is you who have your head stuck in the sand. Think about it.

Actually, to be fair I don't think there are very many people who are racist in the KKK sense but there are many who have certain tendencies and opinions that result in racist manifestations and they are too stubborn or ignorant to realize it. sometimes the tolerance on this wesite just warms my heart

A. Does he have a favourite type of toy i.e cars or lego etc. Use these types of things so it doesn't seem like work to him and try to do it in an informal way, so he doesn't realise he's doing schoolwork. Get a pile of cars or sweets etc and put say 3 down and ask him to count them, then add 2 more and ask him to count again, then repeat 'so we had 3 cars and 2 more came along and then we had 5 cars' 'so 3 cars add 2 cars is 5 cars' '3 add 2 is 5'. Try to make it a game. Also try playing 'shop' with him. Try to keep upbeat and smiley whilst doing it and maybe use rewards as well. With sweets or foodstuffs you can do the 'take away'. Asked by Palash - Sat Oct 11 10:50:33 2008 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Men are easy. Women, however, are much more complex. For a woman to have complete satisfaction she's got to experience the whole process... and for her it starts like 24 hours before the sexual act. Pamper her, compliment her... tell her how you feel about her. Men are easy... they just kind of work. Women are much more emotional and they need to be comfortable, relaxed and in a good mood or she'll never experience complete satisfaction. But I agree... talk to her... and encourage her to talk back!! Ask her to tell you what she likes... if what your doing feels good. Listen to her breathing... that's a tell tale sign. If she's enjoying herself her breathing will become more rapid and heavy. Not everyone gets a rash after climax. I… [cont.]

Asked by Cat lover - Thu Mar 30 15:24:33 2006 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Honestly, the best way to understand your cats more is to spend time with them. I've "been owned" by cats all my life so I have a lot of experience with body language and cat behavior. I've also done a lot of reading too. There are lots of books about cat behavior and most of them are pretty entertaining and funny. In general, here are some pointers: A cat with it's tail up high in the ear and it's ears forward is a happy, friendly cat. In fact, you will notice that when you pet your cat head to tail, it will often raise it's tail high in the air and purr. A cat that is crouched down low, ears back is fearful and afraid. Don't confuse this with a cat that is crouching low and ready to pounce...the ears will be forward when a cat… [cont.]

How do you understand track conditions for horse racing?
Q. I dont really understand about, what fast, good, dead, heavy, slow and sand mean in reference to horse racing. I am assuming that fast means that the track is hard and that heavy means that it is boggy and wet though im not sure. Any help is appreciated.
Asked by Richard - Fri Nov 7 21:38:44 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think this gives a good explanation of the definition of the various track conditions: That said, it's important to note that because there is no standard for track composition in terms of sand, silt, clay, loam, organic matter, and every track is different, each track plays differently. To cite one example, the track at Aqueduct has a high sand content because the dates run at Aqueduct are typically the wettest times of the year. So the track superintendent finds it beneficial to have a lot of sand in the track to assure fast drainage. The result is that when there has been a lot of rain, the main track at Aqueduct can be like a wet beach-- it packs down and gets harder. You may get faster times on such a track than when the… [cont.]

How does a computer's hardware understand it's base code in the first place?
Q. So I am a computer programmer, and I'm planning on creating a mobile device by creating the hardware and building a custom circuit board for it. I haven't done too much research yet, but how does a computer's hardware understand it's base programming language in the first place? How can a computer's hardware read code and understand what it means?
Asked by Aidan - Fri Sep 4 20:52:39 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It's hard to explain this to someone who's had little experience with digital logic circuits. To fully understand this, you need to read up on logic gates, boolean algebra, CPU and bus architecture. I'll try to keep it simple. The base language of a computer is machine code. The part of the computer that actually "understands" and executes machine code is the CPU. Machine codes consist of numbers: opcodes and arguments. For example "254" is a x86 instruction meaning "decrease by 1". The CPU itself consists of a complex network of logic gates (basic digital devices that combine and manipulate bits of data). When the CPU reads an opcode of 254, it sees it as a binary bit-pattern: 1110. Each of those bits is sent down its own wire (bus)… [cont.]

Q. Does having our officers understand the different cultures add to their overall understanding of the people they serve? Does it add to the police understanding why crimes are committed? Does it add in their being able to handle the various situations they deal with? Does it bring them closer to lowering the crime rate through knowledge of diverse cultures? If not, are we wasting even more time?

A. You have some insightful questions built in here without knowing it. The purpose of cultural diversity ( which is mandated training annually in our department) is done solely for the purpose of not offending anyone through lack of knowledge of their cultural upbringing. In these days of being so incredibly "politically correct", the entire basis of law enforcement has been pushed aside. Does this help in handling various situations? NO. Breaking the law is set by state statutes and Revised Code. Does Cultural Diversity help bring down the crime rate through knowledge of diverse cultures? Let me ask you something here. How could it? Understanding how a group of people were raised or what they believe in has nothing whatsoever to do… [cont.]

Why do people not understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration?
Q. So many people on this site mention that because someone is poor that it justifies them breaking into this country and working to feed their families. While you may find the honorable and acceptable, it still doesn't change the fact that it is illegal. Others love to ask what Jesus would do. I don't know the answer to that but the Bible tells us to feed and comfort the poor. Our taxes provide over 30 million a year to Mexico in foriegn aid and that doesn't include farm subsidies. The Bible does not instruct the poor to take from thy neighbor. So again, what is so hard to understand between legal and illegal? Is it possible to answer without calling people who want laws enforced as racists?
Asked by remmo16 - Thu May 11 18:09:11 2006 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you and your kids were to be hungry I think you would choose to do something illegal to feed them. At least is not immoral. The big problem I have is with the prosecution of the immigrants whereas those who employ them or actually exploit them, do not get in trouble. If you really want to stop the illegal immigration then you have to stop those that provide jobs for those immigrants. Those employers are not only doing something illegal but also immoral by taking advantage of people in need. There is also the issue of solidarity, we are supposed to be one world where everybody should help each other. The government should take issue with those taking advantage of the poor no matter what country they come from instead of enabling this… [cont.]
