How can you understand the Bible without a human to teach you?
Q. In talking to many people over the years, people keep telling me that all you need is the Bible and to ask the holy spirit to help you understand the Bible. Nothing else. Couple of problematic questions with this line of reasoning: If you were to rely on your own understanding, would you not have many different sects teaching tons of different understandings of the Bible? If everybody had the holy spirit guiding them, would they not all have come to the same conclusions regarding what the Bible actually teaches? Everybody who is searching for truth of the Bible are all sincere in their search. Why do they not all believe the same thing if they all asked the holy spirit to guide them? How does spirituality help people understand the universe in which we live?
Q. I don t think it does at all; I think spirituality is really just a coping mechanism that people have invented and that is not based on any evidence or rational thought process. Spirituality is the sand in which people stick their heads like ostriches when the truth gets too hard for them to accept. Q. Leone's got extra homework over the weekend to help him understand simple sums and he doesn't understand it. My husband doesn't like to get involved with maths just because he's not very good at maths and doesn't want to teach our son incorrect maths. Q. I dont really understand about, what fast, good, dead, heavy, slow and sand mean in reference to horse racing. I am assuming that fast means that the track is hard and that heavy means that it is boggy and wet though im not sure. Any help is appreciated.

When learning Spanish how do you understand when they talk so fast like a lawnmower?

For example "254" is a x86 instruction meaning "decrease by 1". The CPU itself consists of a complex network of logic gates (basic digital devices that combine and manipulate bits of data). Does having our officers understand the different cultures add to their overall understanding of the people th?
Q. Does having our officers understand the different cultures add to their overall understanding of the people they serve? Does it add to the police understanding why crimes are committed? Does it add in their being able to handle the various situations they deal with? Does it bring them closer to lowering the crime rate through knowledge of diverse cultures? If not, are we wasting even more time?

A. You have some insightful questions built in here without knowing it. The purpose of cultural diversity ( which is mandated training annually in our department) is done solely for the purpose of not offending anyone through lack of knowledge of their cultural upbringing. In these days of being so incredibly "politically correct", the entire basis of law enforcement has been pushed aside. Does this help in handling various situations? NO. Breaking the law is set by state statutes and Revised Code. Does Cultural Diversity help bring down the crime rate through knowledge of diverse cultures? Let me ask you something here. How could it? How many Theists that argue against burden of proof understand the concept?
Q. I just don't understand how someone can argue against something when they don't even know what they're arguing against other then the fact that it breaks their preconceived notions of the universe. Isn't understanding a subject a prerequisite for talking about it? It's not like it's hard to understand that it's up to the person making a claim to substantiate that claim.

Why do people not understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration?
Q. So many people on this site mention that because someone is poor that it justifies them breaking into this country and working to feed their families. While you may find the honorable and acceptable, it still doesn't change the fact that it is illegal. Others love to ask what Jesus would do. I don't know the answer to that but the Bible tells us to feed and comfort the poor. Our taxes provide over 30 million a year to Mexico in foriegn aid and that doesn't include farm subsidies. The Bible does not instruct the poor to take from thy neighbor. So again, what is so hard to understand between legal and illegal? Is it possible to answer without calling people who want laws enforced as racists?

A. If you and your kids were to be hungry I think you would choose to do something illegal to feed them. At least is not immoral. The big problem I have is with the prosecution of the immigrants whereas those who employ them or actually exploit them, do not get in trouble. If you really want to stop the illegal immigration then you have to stop those that provide jobs for those immigrants. Those employers are not only doing something illegal but also immoral by taking advantage of people in need. There is also the issue of solidarity, we are supposed to be one world where everybody should help each other. The government should take issue with those taking advantage of the poor no matter what country they come from instead of enabling this… [cont.]
