What pistol has the highest capacity magazine?
Q. A friend of mine asked what pistol had the highest capacity magazine. I had heard a long time ago that police have pistols with 33 round clips, but am not sure.
Asked by JORDAN B - Fri Oct 24 20:03:28 2008 - - 6 Answers - 2 Comments

A. police for the most part have the same access to equipment as everyone else. Police can get 30 round magazines, but they stick a foot out the bottom of the gun, just like anyone else with a 30 round magazine hum linky not working, go here and scroll down a bit Para-0rdinance P14 is a 45 single action with a 13 round mag +1 in the pipe, being the original high capactiy 45, recently matched by the Glock 21 (originally 12 rounds, now 13 rounds in the mag after a redesign) and Springfield XD also making a version with a 13 shot mag. The FN Five-seveN (yes, capitol N on the end) has a flush sitting 20 round magazine, but then it fires the anemic 5.7mm cartridge, good for busting body armor, bad for actually finishing the job after it… [cont.]

Q. A question for all the firearm history aficionados out there: I know the Borchardt C-93 was the first successful pistol to incorporate a box magazine, but I would like to know which pistol was the absolute FIRST to use a box magazine. Just curious.

A. The 1893 Borchardt C-93! An impractical to carry, but very beautiful pistol! (I'd love to have one.)

A. Wait a tic, I have a 1377 that I use for pest contol/ long range targets. It is by far the most accurate pistol and the most powerful pistol on the market without going over 200$ (it cost 60$). The downside to this pistol is its huge and bolt action with a pump. You said you want it to behave like the real pistols, thus the Pro77/ Beretta PX4/walther CP99. These pistols are based off of current production pistols, my favorite (I do not own this one) of the three is the Beretta PX4. It shoots pellets at a reasonable speed, has a decocker, DA/SA trigger, blowback, and is well made. I own two Pro77 pistols, one has lasted 230,000 rounds (!) and the other is more new so about 5000rnds. They are not powerful at all, but they have a strong… [cont.]

Q. I want to start going to the shooting range, but i am a beginner. I want to know what pistol has little or no kickback so I can start with that, and work my way up. So what do you consider a very little or no kickback gun that is accurate?
Asked by John M - Mon May 25 18:41:58 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You're gonna get the same answer over and over. .22lr. It has VERY little recoil. Gregg recommended a Ruger Mk I, II, or III. My first gun was actually a Ruger Mk III. It is a TOTALLY appropriate gun to start with, and I still love to shoot it. The biggest disadvantage I find is learning to take it apart.. especially the first few times before it's all broken in. Otherwise, it's been an amazing, accurate gun. That rail is removable. .22lr is cheap and plentiful. You'll be able to practice alot. I'd recommend you look for a range that has rentals. You'll never know how well a gun works for you until you shoot it yourself. I know I'd personally get friggin bored if all I shot was .22lr.

Q. Sorry to all those who answered, someone reported my post as point gaming. Reposting... I realize that you get what you pay for in most cases. I am not interested in a lecture on why you should spend every dime you have on a pistol. I am talking about a hand gun that can be reasonably concealed. I hear a lot of problems with the Springfield XDs. If you recommend an XD, please let me know if you frequent failure to feed. Thanks!

A. It is a little difficult to recommend without a little more information. What weapon are you used to shooting? Do you prefer Revolvers to Semi Auto? Is there a particular caliber you prefer? How big are your hands? You say Average...average height, weight...? I would recommend a weapon that is slim in profile, carries a sufficient amount of ammunition (preferrably hollow points) and of a caliber of at least .32 For example Beretta Tomcat...32 Cal - VERY Concealable .380 Auto (Bersa, Walther, a few others) Very Concealable 9mm (Keltec - eh...probably a few others..don't carry these so not sure of "brand") .45 the world is open (I prefer the Kimber Ultra Carry II) Another consideration is HOW you intend to conceal. How does one decock a Browning Buckmark Pistol and how should one load the first round?
Q. A recent answerer advised against using the Slide Release/Stop Latch for loading a round into the chamber ("Sling Shot" method.) Can anyone give a good method for doing this? The answerer also advised against decocking the pistol by "dry firing" it. How should it be decocked? The Browning manual is unclear or silent on these questions and so I would appreciate information to help me get started right with my new toy.
Asked by Geuler - Sat Jan 12 00:15:04 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. When you unload the pistol, just take out the magazine first and rack the slide to clear out the cartridge in the chamber, don't use the slide stop or dry fire it, just put the safety on. When you get ready to shoot it though, put the magazine in the pistol, take the safety off and rack the slide again to chamber a round. The only way you can decock the pistol is when you field strip it by holding the trigger down with one finger and at the same time take your fingers on your other hand and let the hammer down slowly.

Can an airsoft pistol that uses green gas also work with propane?
Q. I'm getting a semi-auto airsoft pistol (have not decided which one). Most of the guns I like need green gas. Green gas is so expensive, so can I use propane instead? Will it damage my gun or lower the FPS?
Asked by Jonathan - Wed Nov 25 19:00:58 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yup, green gas is 99% propane so most people use it instead of green. Just get yourself a propane adapter so you can fill your mags from a propane bottle and some silicone oil to add to the mags from time to time.

What type of pistol is best to begin shooting with?
Q. I am working towards my degree in Criminal Justice (With the intent of becoming a police officer) and was wondering which type of pistol to start out with. My experience with shooting is minimal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Asked by kminlimbo - Tue Dec 23 10:05:41 2008 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments

A. When I went through the academy, many of the top shooters had minimal or no experience with handguns. They were easier to teach because there were no bad habits to break. The way an officer handles his gun can be much different than most are used to. Regardless of what you start with, it will probably be different than the one you will carry. I wouldn't worry about it, you will have plenty of practice and supervision on the police range.

How can I get an Airsoft pistol in to Australia?
Q. I am thinking of buying an Airsoft pistol (spring powered, so not very powerful) from Italy. I live in Australia and does anyone know how I could get it in? I was thinking that I could take apart the magazine and the slide and take the pellets separately and put the pistol in the under-carriage luggage. Do you think this would work and what would the implications be if I were caught at the airport?
Asked by Hughesy - Wed Dec 24 00:25:02 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It'd be found - airport security specifically looks for things that look like guns... you don't honestly think that taking it apart would fool them do you? If that was the case, then all people would have to do to smuggle real guns would be to take them apart... When you get caught you can expect a hefty fine and possibly being charged with attempting to illegally import a controlled firearm.

Asked by OC IRISH REBEL - Sat Dec 27 17:18:09 2008 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Don't buy a 22 cal handgun for protection, buy a 22 cal handgun for plinking and fun, and buy a smith and wesson 357 revolver for protection, a 22 just is not big enough. Either Buy a ruger mark three, or a walther p22. heres the links there are many different models to those above guns, but for protection (concealed carry even) you will need a larger caliber handgun, like one of these 357 s&w Revolver like this one or a .45acp 1911 model like this or some type of glock,I like the .40 or the .45, but there all good calibers and if all of those are a little expensive, this is also a great gun. ruger lcp, cool gun, inexpensive to shoot and to buy, and very concealable.

A. Well depending on the gun you can take it to different airsoft shops to see if they offer a spring upgrade, and barrel length increase. The spring is the source of a spring powered airsoft gun, upgrading this will allow higher FPS. After that if you lengthen the barrel with a 6MM in diameter pipe and a adapter to connect it to the built-in barrel (note: do not attach to the orange tip that is not part of the barrel and do not remove it permanently because that could get you fined and have the gun confiscated depending where in the USA you live. Do NOT shrink the inside of the pipe any smaller than 6MM, if it gets smaller the bb most likely will jam and the gun may be ruined forever!) by about 2-5 inches (depending on how far and strait you… [cont.]

Asked by Jamie A - Sat Sep 15 14:13:54 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, I'd actually start with a .22 rifle and single fire or bolt action would be the preference. Maybe a Cricket? Rifles are much easier to shoot for young hands because you can sit them down at a bench with bags and load and then let them fire at the target. Pistols require two hands and a whole lot more control. Your kid can be spinning those little steel spinner targets in no time with a rifle, which is fun and positive encouragement. Pistols will be much slower to get him on target. The great thing about firearms, is you can sell in a year or two and not loose much of your investment, then move up to something different.

Asked by ares424 - Mon May 19 03:16:02 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes, you can, with a number of confusing exceptions with harsh penalties if you run afoul of them. For instance, you board a bus while openly carrying your handgun. If the gun is unloaded you are fine. If the gun is LOADED, you just committed a felony. There are several other restrictions. You had better know them all before carrying openly. Even if you are legal, you should expect to be stopped by about every police officer who see you and who will want to know why you are carrying a gun.
