Petroleum (L. petroleum, from Latin: petra rock + oleum oil) or crude oil is a naturally occurring, toxic, flammable liquid consisting of a complex mixture of hydrocarbons of various molecular weights, and other organic compounds, that are found in geologic formations beneath the Earth's surface. The term petroleum was first used in the treatise De Natura Fossilium, published in 1546 by the German mineralogist Georg Bauer, also known as Georgius Agricola. From Wikipedia under the

Q. i have two options to go to petroleum technology and petrochemical engineering. which one should i prefer ?? please suggest me and also please tell the difference between them. Asked by madhukar - Mon Jul 19 02:32:27 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Which one you should prefer is entirely up to you. I would suggest you speak with experts in both of these fields for the details/differences between each. Technology usually refers to handling equipment. Engineering either means design or process control. I would suggest you speak with experts in each field to get the details. If there is a petrochemical plant near your location, you can contact them and request an informational interview. They may even give you a tour.
