How were elections conducted before 1832?
Q. Before the reform in 1832 how were the elections conducted

A. Mainly the same as they were afterwards - for a time. All the Reform Act did was to slightly widen the franchise and to reorganise constituencies - it was seen as something of a sell out at the time leading to the Chartist Movement of the next decade. it did no introduce secret ballots or make bribery and corruption of electors a crime. Those were things that were to come later in the century. It allow for multiple voting places within each constituency and reduced the days of the election to two only - previously they had taken up to 40 days in some places.
